what i mean is not floating on your back or stomach, like the way you float in the ocean.

i can not for the life of me do it. but ive only tried in the deep end of a pool (around 9 ft) and not in the ocean. would it be easier in the ocean since theres more ocean which i guess would make u more bouyant?

*i can swim btw, just not float like that

  1. You can tread water and do that. Learn the arm movement, then learn the leg movement, then put them together. For the arms, hold your arms up straight out to the sides, shoulder height (you look like a T).  Bending your elbows, move the arms together in front of you until they touch. Then straighten them back out to the sides again. Your arms stay the same height the whole time, shoulder height. Now learn the legs. You are standing up in the water, but it is deeper than you are tall. As if you are walking, bring one leg up in front of you, knee bent, and sort of straighten it back down with a gentle kick. Your other leg is not kept straight, it sort of does a kick to the back while the front leg is kicking to the front. Like a scissors. I don't know that I have described it that well. Good luck.

  2. you mean tread water? the way i learned was to make circles with both you legs and arms. your arms have to be pointing downwards as well as your legs, making you vertical. the circles should be going inward. i hope this makes sense

  3. Well maybe you dont have any fat to keep you afloat, us girls tend to float better than men cause we have built in floaties lol! :)

  4. Saltwater is more dense than freshwater so it's easier to float in.

But you could try holding air in your lungs [holding your breath lol] which would make you more buoyant. I know this from years of swimming, I cannot just float on my back to save my life.
