How do you format an XP hard drive?

How do I do it if I want to use it again and how do I do it if I don't want to use it again?

  1. insert your xp cd and on boot it will give you the option to format. Choose the full option, not quick. Continue on if you want to use it again.

    Or, if you don't have one, thry making barts network boot disk.

    just download the first link. then unzip the files. go start>run and type cmd.

    go to the bfd directory and type "bfd msnet"

    To do this you will need a floppy drive and a floppy disk.

    This disk will enable you to run the fdisk command which will completely format your hard drive, and has the option to "zero" your drive. This changes all the bits on your drive to 0 completely and irrevocably erasing all data on it.
