Question:

How do you freeze corn on the cob and green tomatoes???

so i have lots of corn and green tomatoes. I know i can freeze the corn mom always did. and i was told i can freeze the green tomatoes.. But how do i freeze them. with the corn mom blanched it for like 3 mins then put in ice water to cool and put in freezer bags. but with the green tomatoes i have no idea what to do with them.. any suggestions will be appreciated...

  1. Great idea with the corn but make sure it sits out to dry a bit before putting in freezer or it will collect frost. Another thing I do is scrape the corn off the cob for later use.

    As far as the green tomatoes, we make green tomato relish which is absolutely loved in by family and friends... is even better than sweet relish on hot dogs, hamburgers, etc. Here is a recipe which I use:

    Have only a few jars of it left from last year and plan on putting up some more. Gave lots of it away as gifts last Christmas in goodies baskets.


  2. Just wrap them up and put em in freeze.

  3. put them in a bag and stick 'em in your freezer for a little while. it will do absolutely nothing to your veggies except freeze them. :)

  4. You realize that the tomatoes will be soft once defrosted.  You might be better off to make green tomato relish or chow chow unless you are just going to make a sauce with them later on.
