How do you get DVD video on to PC as a WMV?

It's from a DVD recorder, home movie, I know normal ones are encoded.

By ripping it with a DVD ripper like HandBrake

Hopefully, your computer has a DVD optical drive and this is a normal sized (not a small 8cm) DVD disc. NEVER put a small or odd sized disc in a slot loading optical drive...

If your computer's optical drive is a slot loader or if it does only CDs, you need to either get a drawer loader or get an analog/digital bridge like
