How do you get a better life if you are poor and unskilled?

And if you get the wrong skills? Once? Twice?

The first thing one does is to become educated, finish school, learn a craft or trade, and develop a positive attitude, that you can succeed. Poor is no excuse. Neither is unskilled. You must want to better yourself. Then you set a way to accomplish your goals( legally). If it means taking two jobs to save money, do it.  There has to be some field that interests you. See what is required to excel in that field.

The other would be networking - trying to get to know people with a foothold in the industry you like.

It depends on your age. Check out your local state workforce development program or your local community college. You can see an adviser at the college for free.

They can point you in the right direction as to what you would like to do. And let you know where the money is to do it with.

There are a few organizations(more when Clinton was president, rather you like him or not) that can help you.  The most important thing is recognizing that it will be a struggle the older you are and to not focus on your surrounding, which asking a lot of a person but it can be done or we would not have lifetime television stories. LOL

Get a skill.  There's tons of skill training all over...find something you  like and go for it.  Learn all you can -whether that's in college or some sort of job training.  Education can get you places.

That's easy.  Apply for everything you can....including ssi disability which I'm not able to get because I am educated!  Go figure.

The good news are that you can´t sink lower, so you have 2 choices, Live within your means or get an education, hooo, one more, buy a Lotto ticket and hope it is a winner.
