How do you get a cash advance without a PIN?

My 16 year old daughter is in Australia. She needs cash. Can she get cash from her hotel using her credit card? We don't have a P.I.N. for the card so she can't go to an ATM. Any suggestions.? I've NEVER in my life had to get a cash advance.

Does she have a debit card?  If so, send her to whatever the Ozzie equivalent of Walmart is, buy a pack of gum and get cash back on the debit card.  

If she has a checkbook with her the hotel will probably cash a check for her, a local bank definitely would.

She or you could call the credit card company and ask to set up a PIN for the card, then use that.

Call the bank, get a PIN. They'll make sure you're the cardholder is truly you and then give you instructions for getting a PIN. Should take less than 15 minutes.

She would probably have to call the credit card company and give her detailed information (to make sure of her identity) and then they may give her a PIN or recommend a place she can get the cash advance from (possibly a bank). It will probably cost a fee and  it is advisable that she pay  off the cash advance right away because cash advances are expensive to say the least! The intrest is at least double what a regular credit card intrest would be and there are fees! Banks are usually eager to give cash advances.

No go on writing an American check. Aussie banks will not cash an American check unless it is a Cashier's check or traveler's  cheque.

You don't mention what type of card it is but you can always call the number on the back of the card and ask them what they suggest.  I doubt they'd give a PIN over the phone.  

If the hotel won't do it for her, she should be able to go into a bank and do a cash advance.  Just be sure she brings all her ID with her.

If there's no way of getting the cash advance on the credit card, you may want to consider using Western Union to send her the cash.  You can go to their website for instructions and locations.
