How do you get a cat to pee inside a liltter box and not on the side of it?

well maybe the kitty litter is too small for your cat because all cats like to have a big litter box to give them space to do there business

First, if your cat is a baby then make sure the litter box is easily accesible--ie no stairs.

Bring the cat to the litter box.  If it try to go to the bathroom on the side say NO and put in the box.  Keep doing this.  Also, if the litter is really dirty they won't want to use it.

Try different depths of litter. Many people put too much litter in the box. Some cats like only a small amount.

Take your cat to the litter box frequently, and if she uses it, praise her, or even give her a treat.

just try this, believe me it may hopefully work, when your cat goes for a poo outside the litter box then PUT it in his litter box and when he pees make sure you see him and if you dont try and put where he went as in the garden pull up the bit of grass he went in and put it in his litter tray and he should smell it and want to pee there again,its all teritorally as in their territory!! make him know this is the OK place to go and not outside it and if he tries to go outside it lift him by the neck in the right way and place him in his litter tray and praise him, cats are smart too and will learn quickly if showen right,best of luck!xx

sounds like you have a boy - is he fixed?

you can train your cat, by holding their paws, walking them to the litter box, rough up the litter with their paws, and set it's butt in the dug hole - eventually you cat will get the idea --- I trained all my cats this way and it usually worked

Keep putting the cat in the litter box when he pees until he sees that he should pee in there.
