  1. Can you put some clothes on.

  2. Well go to museums, take art classes and read about the artists. You don't have to be intellectual to appreciate art or the other way around. You might be attracted to a style of art more then others and you might even have some hidden talent for certain art but you have to work it.

Knowing the terms and 'looks' is not the important thing it's the appreciation and value you can give to the artists contribution  that's important.

  3. Ok, first the sarcastic but somewhat true answer:  If you want to be accepted in the "art" community, you get a "good eye" for art by figuring out who the movers and shakers in the community are.  Then you agree with them, and learn their biases over time.  Gradually with enough time you will be able to know what they like and why even without them there to tell you what your opinion should be.

Now the real answer.  Get a feel for what moves you in art, both positively and negatively.  Develop an understanding of why you are moved by a particular piece of art.  Then learn the common dialog of the people in the art community, so you can communicate your impressions in terms they can understand.

  4. It's such a gray area and there's a lot of subjectivity to it.  What some would consider a masterpiece, others may shun upon it.  Just have fun and enjoy whatever pleases your eyes.  Being a liberal arts major, you come to find out that some will like your work and others will hate the exact same thing.

  5. 1st off thre are many types of art. Try reading about diff types of art on google or go check out a book from the library. Research it! You may also try an art museum the staff there know a lot and you may even be able to take a tour. Also try looking at your community center or at your local craft store.   they may have an inexpensive beginners class there you could take

  6. You can't "get" it - you're either born with it or you aren't. It depends if you have a creative mind.

Otherwise, you could visit art galleries as suggested before. Perhaps you could even study it to gain a better understanding?

  7. Do self portraits, You look highly capture-able to Me;)

  8. Start by learning art terms....styles etc. then look for examples of each.  Like Vincent Van Gogh and Post Impressionism.  Jackson Pollack and Abstract Expressionism - Good Luck.  You could also take a course in Art Appreciation.

  9. Depends on what your interest in art is! Investment or personal. Get to know some art dealers, galllery people, sign up for gallery introductions of artists, read about various arts and artists!  Or just take a chance and buy something that you like!

  10. just go to various art museums, gallerys etc.  You will find a style that you find more pleasing than others.  Myself, I detest modern art, but love the old masters especially Rodin.

  11. i don't know i like my work, but hate Picasso

  12. Art is an in-born quality.  No guidelines are required.  You start according to your interest. Nature, Scenery, Trees, Flowers, Buildings, Birds - all beneath the sky - you can make your subject.

Picasso,  Michael Angelo, Raja Ravi Varma etc. were world famous artists, and I personally admire all of them.  Best wishes on your new venture.

  13. everyone has a good eye for art. just open them. and intellectuals are just normal people who open their eyes and shut their mouths.
