How do you get a horse on halvest moon on ds?

They come to you,After the first year a horse will appear then you name it and you dont need to feed it and its way easeir to get around

It's sad that I know this.  The dude that brought you to the farm gives you the horse as a present.  I'm not sure when, but I think it's in the first year or maybe at the end of the first year.
