I was arrested for the first time last month. When I fill out job apps I never check the "convicted felon" box bcuz I think I over look the "arrested for a felony" part. A felony is on my record but will be off in the next year.

Do you think its a good idea to write a letter explaining my legal situation???

And distribute it with my applicaitons/ resumes.?

help please

  1. It will be hard to get a job if you have that criminal history. I would take time to explain the legal system but make it very quick because once they see the criminal history, it has a low % that they will look over it.

  2. i would do the same like the other to people said just tell them if its not that bad tell them about it and say it was my first and last time geting arrested maybe they will see that your a good person and look over it anyways i wish you the best of luck looking for the new job

  3. Its good if you mention your criminal history very breifly explained in your resume. Make sure you are not exploited by further criminals while searching for job.

all the best, go ahead. You will get your right job at your right time. Trust me. :-)

    Keep trying

  4. You have already asked a question about this. And everyone told you to be honest. An employer is not going to look kindly over someone trying to hide soemthing from them.

You must tell them what happened. In the interview or on paper. BUt not don't "distribute" a letter. It looks like your trying to take the easy way out.

  5. if you were arrested for a Felony you would have some Prison time unless the judge cut you a sweet deal and only got jail time. plus you didnt say what you were arrested for

  6. Well, if the felony wasnt that bad, then just talk about it on the job interview. You have to pay for your mistakes.
