How do you get a kitten to stop nursing!! 13 weeks old!!?

Our cat had kittens and we kept one kitten and the mom. The kitten is too old to be nursing and we've tryed to stop him! What can i do? Is ther some kind of stuff i can put on the mom or something?

  1. The mom is supposed to make him/her stop.

    My kitten tried to nurse up to the age of 10 weeks, and fianally the mom started to swipe at them when they did.

    If the mother cat doesnt' seem to mind, I would suggest letting it go.  My guess is that it won't go past 15 weeks.


  2. You can put a bit of Bitter Apple spray on her nipples. She should be fighting him off by now.

  3. that is really up to the mom to take care of.  If she is annoyed with him, she'll make him stop.  there is no harm to either the mother or the kitten to allow the nursing to continue.

    if you want to force the issue, you could separate them for a couple of days till her milk dries up.  I wouldn't use anything topical as you'll just annoy the mom as she tries to keep herself clean.
