I'm not talking about amending an existing law, I'm talking about making a new law. Thanks.

  1. Well you will have to get petitions signed lobby your legislators. You must get a lot of people to feel it is a necessary law.If you can get a groundswell , you may get enough backing to carry a new bill.

  2. What type of law is this?  City, State, or Federal?

Each type of law is formed within it's level of government.  It can be introduced by a court case or introduced to the level of government by a citizen or official within that government.  It goes through the bill process and then may or may not become law.

If I were trying to make a new law, I would call an attorney who deals in that area of law to see what the current status is.  Then I would call and write your state Senators and Representatives.  Let them know what your new law is.  Look on linee to see how they vote on related issues to determine how they may react to your idea.   Write a summary of you law.  Get an attorney, Senator and Representative to review it to see if it sets the right standards.  Circulate it.  Begin in the community and expand as far as you need to.  Look up information on how many people you need to back you up.  If all else fails, I would find a way to introduce it to the government entity myself.

GO FOR IT!!!  KUDOS to you for taking a step forward and making your voice heard.  That is what The United States of America is all about!  :)

    Good Luck!
