  1. Many times a new cat comes into a home with other pets and will use the floor because it is stressed.  Are any of the other cats picking on him?  You should put him in a bathroom or room by himself, with his own food, water and litter box for a couple of weeks.  Visit him often and play with him.  This should help him get used to you without the stress of all the other cats.  Also, are the litter boxes kept cleaned?  They should be scooped or emptied every day.  Also, it is recommended that you have one litter box for each cat in the house.  Maybe he doesn't want to share with all of those other cats.  Hope this helps.

  2. I don't know if this is helpful, but: My cat did them same thing when he was a kitten. It was in the same spot every time. The vet recommended that we place another litter tray there because it might be that he was still so young that he couldn't always make it to his normal litter box. When he was old enough, we replaced the litter tray with a plastic tarp to discourage him from continuing to use that area. It worked.

  3. i agree  with all the other answers.

  4. If you have 7 other kitties, he may need to have a separate litter box for him in another room.

  5. Makesure the litter box is always clean- he may be fussy. Also try using different litter as he may not like the one you are using at the moment
