it depends on the mial you exepect to receive.once you anticipate that the mail to be received by you would be large enough,you approach the post office which is closest to you.They would require you to fill up certain forms,and charge you a yearly fee.once you have done that you would be allotted a p.o.box number.However all post officesin India do not have the P.O.Box facility.

however these days the post office is losing its relevance,day by day.people are now more interested to email their messages or send e-greetings to their near and dear ones.

First know your postal delivery Office, for which you have to refer your location PIN code. Then contact the post master of the concerned post office. Get an application, fill it up. Pay the prescribed fee. After approval, the post master will allot a box and hand over the keys to you. Please note, you have renew every year by paying renewal fee.
