  1. Talking birds are like humans: some like talking, some don't. Most hookbills have the ability to talk to some degree. They like to copy things that their owners say a lot; how often they do it is up to the individual bird. If your bird says something that you like, give it a treat (sunflower seed, bit of fruit) and praise him a lot, this will teach it to say it again.

Best talkers include the larger hookbills such as African Greys and Macaws, and some of the smaller ones as well such as Quaker parrots and Conures.

Worst talkers of the hookbill family would include parrotlets, budgies, and lovebirds. These will occasionally pick up a word or two, but don't count on it. Outside of the hookbill birds, I doubt there are any decent talkers.

  2. They mimic sounds they hear frequently.

    Best: African Grey Parrot

    Worst: Canary!!

  3. I've found repeating the same words over and over helps.  But I've also found that they won't talk unless they want to.  Males are more likely to talk than females.  Budgies and African Grey Parrots are good talkers.

  4. they mimic sounds they hear or you can teach them

    worst: finch

  5. Best: african grey, smartest bird's

Medium: green cheek, mimics a lot of noises but isnt noisy if shes by herself

    Worst: doves
