How do you get a private pilots license in MA?

I'm a high school junior and want to be a Navy pilot, and I know a pilots license would help in the Naval Academy admissions process. I know I have to be at least 17 but I can't find a definite process to get a license. Also, I realize it would take a lot of time (probably not in time for the Academy admissions) but I'm still interested in having one because I love flying. Also, is a recreational pilots license as good as a private pilots license despite being "easier" to get?

  1. If you want to go to the naval academy don't bother learning to fly. Get in the academy, do your best, and you'll be a nugget landing on a carrier in no time. Nobody will care if you can fly a C150. Good luck.

  2. then u should apply fo any private flying school...

if u are in malaysia... asia pacific flying school at pengkalan chepa, kelantan....or langkawi flying school or malacca flying school  might help... but it cost about RM200000 to get a licence... if u want to get a free licence, then u should apply fo kolej tentera udara (royal malaysian airforce college) at kepala batas, kedah.... u can find aboutthat college at wikipedia

  3. You want the private, rather than the recreational.

In the US, pilot certificates are issued by the federal government, so the procedure is the same in every state.  To get started, go to the nearest airport that has a flight school.  You can find this by looking in the Yellow Pages under "flight instruction."

Just walk in and up to the counter, and say "I want to get my private pilot's certificate."  They will lead you from there.

    Good luck, and have fun.
