  1. To be perfectly honest, I have no idea what one needs to do to be a top contributor.  Does it matter anyway !?

  2. i heard some people have multi IDs and vote for themselves to get lots of BAs

i don't know if many would do this but i know of at least one who writes drivel but gets to be TC from time to time

another ploy is to answer new questions quickly - be in first place - and if the question goes to vote the first answers usually get it

hi MB - i was in AZ for nearly five weeks and before that in Leeds working - i was there for around three weeks

i was almost weaned off CE but have made up for it this week (i blame it on jet lag as i can't sleep and what else is there to do in the middle of the night......? every night?)

  3. Aren't you confusing profiles and current events?

I would think a profile has to sit unused for a while before it is removed.

And while current events are only current in the moment (Dem. Conv. this week, Rep. Conv. next), you can talk about them forever.  Of course, people don't - it's why we call them current events, they are intensely interesting in the moment, but not after.

Maybe you are estimating the time it woutld take to gather so many points by how slowly they accumulate in the beginning.  But, you see, it speeds up.  Hopefully, you find categories where you have some understanding and answer questions there on a regular basis.  If you are thoughtful, you start getting chosen best answer, and that's 10 points each time plus the 2 pts. you received with your answer.

If you don't get better at it, it might indeed take a long, long time.  But - hopefully, you have somethin better to do than to hang around Yahoo Answers, and just fill in with this.  Me - I am trying to quit spitting nails over politics, and this is how I cool off.  If I'm stuck over here, I go over there, and bit by bit things get done.  This is harmless and fun.

But - honestly - I suspect a lot of the top answerers are already experts at something before they come on the site, so they give really good answers and get lots of points.

  4. You need to be a HUGE member in  the email chain gang.

    So I heard.

Nah. its easy Twigs. catch up babe :)

  5. It comes down to sleeping arrangements.Shambo can fill you in.

    Hi Michele,where you bin?

  6. i do not know? I think it's who you know, not what you know. lol

  7. The TC badge is a measure of RECENT participation (within the last 1 to 3 weeks).

You can hold TC badges in up to 3 lowest-level categories at once (except 'Polls&Surveys' and 'Jokes&Riddles'), and you can get it on any level except 1. Badges come and go on Monday mornings. Yahoo keeps the formula secret, and it's subject to change at any moment. It probably also varies from category to category, depending on volume. Experienced users have formed guesses, but they're just GUESSES.

In a category which averages 6000 +/- questions, you probably need around:

    - 20-40 answers per week in the category

    - at least 20 'best answers' in the category within the last 3 weeks

    - 200 or more total points per week (including all answers, B.A.s, votes, and 'thumbs ups') in the category

In a 600 question category it would certainly be less.

If your level of participation falls, you will likely lose your badge. Concentrate on participating regularly and giving high-quality answers in just a few categories to earn or keep a badge.

    Good luck.

  8. It takes a lot of dedication and devotion so I'd like to thank all my dedicated devoted fans.
