How do you get a urine scent out of a mattress?

My daughter had an accident the other night and now her mattress smells like urine , any way to get it out? Thanks

What my mom does when my little brother has an accident she finds the spot and puts peroxide on it and it completely takes it away. Then after just to freshen  it up you could spray a little frebreze on it.

do the peroxide thing and then go buy a plastic table cloth at the dollar store to put under her sheet. Saves a headache the next time around.

try using a spray on carpet cleaner. i've used the prosolve aresol and it worked like a charm. DO NOT SLEEP ON IT FOR THE FIRST 24 HOURS! there will be a strong chemecal smell from the mattress for this time so set her up on a foamie out of the room and leave the windows open and the sheets off. after that it's just like new!

im not sure how to clean it, but to prevent future smells after you clean it, use a plastic mattress cover to put over the mattress . that way, you can wash that, and wash the sheets/comforter and then everything will smell good again.

sprinkle mattress with carpet fresh, or fabreeze ! and open windows and air out for awhile !

Tomorrow morning strip the bed down and open the window, you can sprinkle some baking soda on the mattress and then vacuum the mattress, you can also rent a steam cleaner to clean the mattress as well ,keep the bed unmade for most of the day to let it air out .

No matter what you do to clean it, you're never going to completely eliminate the odor.  The best you can do is allow it to dry completely (use fan and open windows, if possible) and cover it with a protective plastic fitted sheet.

Steam cleaning would not be able to reach the depth of the urine stain.  Febreeze just doesn't work to eliminate odors, it only adds another odor to existing odors.
