How do you get a video from a video camera to the computer?

i have a sharp camcorder Hi8 VL - AH50 and i dont have a usb connector, but i do have cords with a video (yellow) and 2 audio (red and white), also they have it at both ends. i get where you plug it into the camcorder but where do you plug it into the computer??

to a port called spdif? or aux in??

i tried the line in port but it still is not working =(

A video capture card is probably the easiest and cheapest. Or buy a DVD recorder,  record it on a DVD  and transfer it that way.

Your computer need a video capture card or device. You cannot record video from that cam corder (I have the same !@!) unless you get one of those capture cards.

I bought a KWorld USB video capture device which can be plugged into a USB 2.0 port and did not need the PC to be opened.

You can also buy a PCI video capture card that is built in like any other video card. These cards range from 30$ to 400$ but you should be fine with a 30$ given the cam corder quality limits (search for a cheap Pinnacle or so).

As to your comment about not going to the store: order one online. If you meant that you would not want to shell out more then forget capturing the video onto your PC.
