  1. well some countries don't require visas. the ones that do you usually need before you leave.  Check with a local travel agent for what your destination requires.

  2. some countries will not give you a visa on arrival they require you to apply for a visa before you leave for your trip (weeks before)

depends where your from and where your going

  3. As far as visa requirements are concerned, there are 3 categories:

    1) No visa required - you can just enter the country with a valid passport and do the immigration formalities. Eg, if you hold a Canadian/American/European, etc passport, you don't need a visa to visit most of the American and European countries.

    2) Visa upon arrival - when you arrive in the country, the immigration officer will grant you permission to enter and stay. Eg, UAE, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Turkey. In some cases, like Turkey, you need to pay a fee for this visa. You make the payment to the immigration officer.

    3) Visa required - you must obtain the visa prior to leaving your home country. Eg, India, Brazil.. you need to obtain the visa from the consulate/embassy in your home country and this may take a few days.. you can check the requirements on the website for that country's embassy.

  4. usually the airline will give you a form to fill in and then when you arrive in the country you give them it at the booth and they give you a stamp. Some countries you may have to pay for it but at most it will be £15. Of course, some countries dont require a visa at all

  5. If the country you plan to travel to requires a visa for entry then you must obtain the visa before you get to that country.  When you go through customs to enter a country they do not always stamp your passport.  If they don't stamp it, you can ask them to please stamp your passport.  Some people like to have their passport show where they have been.  Some people don't care.
