How do you get a yellow and black finch to go in my trap?

I have two traps and the yellow and black finches wont go in them how do I lure them to my trap. I have bird seed and nyjer seed please help. HELP HELP HELP.

It is illegal for you to capture native wild birds..if you were really a researcher, you would not be using any sort of bird trap..that is NOT how researchers capture birds.  All native birds are protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and you can be fined and jailed for capturing them or harming them in any way.  Also, if you were really a researcher you would not be on her asking these questions as you would be using the proper equipment to trap them.

You want pet birds, you get them at a shop specializing in them.
