i have a 7 and a half month old cat and whenever he is happy or something (purring) he tries to nurse on blankets or folds of fabric. the habit is causing him to be antisocial because whenever someone tries to pet him, he starts purring and ignores them to nurse on the nearest soft object, and im pretty sure that its not good for him. what is a good way to teach him to stop?

  1.    When your kitten was a baby he was taken from his mother too soon. No need to worry about it he is purring when you pet him and then starts to  knit with his paws and puts his  face against something soft.      There is nothing wrong with this at all so please don't worry, he is a happy cat. He very well may stop when he is ready.

I have a Blue point Siamese that i rescued and he is very close to me, when i pick him up he resorts back to kitten behaviour, knitting with his paws and he just presses his nose against my arm, purring contentedly.

  2. i don't think you can ever get them to stop, my cats are 1,2,4 and they all still do it sometimes, I guess it gives them a sense of security.

  3. well my mom has a two year old cat and she still tries it if you don't pull her away and say no
