How do you get a young persons railcard?

i understand that you need to be under 26 years old - is there any cost involved? where do you get them and what id do you need?

I think it's £20 a year you can buy one online from the national rail website or you can get one at your local station, just remember to take proof of who you are and proof of your date of birth.

A YP card costs £20 for the year, application leaflets are availiable in your local station, you will also need a passport photo and proof of age and address (drivers licence, passport, birth certificate). The process takes a few minutes to complete.

There are restrictions on travel and a minimum fare for peak time travel, but they are a good investment if you need to use a train for a few trips.

General saving is APPROX 34% of the ticket price and will vary from type of ticket (Advance, Standard Day, Cheap Day, etc).

The other alternative is to open a student account with Nat West Bank, I believe they give you a card for free as part of the incentive to join.

There is a 1 off cost, but I am not to sure what it is these days, but it should be arround £20.

To get the YP Railcard, you need to get a couple of passports photo's of yourself & you need to sign the back of them. Then you goto the local train station with two forms of ID to prove who you are and how old you are (so a passport/birth certificate/driving licence will do) when you are at the train station you will also have to fill out the application form, then hand it over to the ticket office with your proof of who you are and they should do the rest.

A Young Persons Railcard costs £20 and it'll save you 1/3 on rail fares throughout Great Britain for a whole year.  You're eligible if you're aged between 16-25, or over the age of 26 and in full-time education.

There are plenty of ways you can use your Railcard, for both long and short trips.  Better still you can use it anytime on weekends, Public Holidays and during the week.  The only restriction is that if you travel at or before 10am Monday to Friday (except during July and August) a minimum fare will apply.  For more details see minimum fares

Yes, if you open a student account with natwest you get one free. Otherwise, they are £20 a year and you buy them at the train station!

They are absolutely worth their weight in gold. I had one when I was a student and made the money I paid for it back in savings after the first trip!

Go to the train station with a government issued proof of age, passport picture, completed form and twenty of our english pounds and the ticket clerk will process the form straight away. If you are over 26 and in full time education you can still apply but the process is slightly different.
