How do you get an easy, quick, cheap, legally binding patent?

I have an idea for modifying an existing product. However, I need to patent my idea before the company will even hear my idea. I am a teacher and a married mother of 2 (4 years and 5 months) and we don't have a lot of money to devote to this idea. Does anyone know of a way to get a patent for a reasonable price and with an easy application process?

    U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

All the tools are there to create your first application. If you're patient and take the time to understand every instruction, you can do this yourself for only the filing fee.

Every patent or trademark application is reviewed by a lawyer. A lawyer is assigned to your application, reviews it, and will accept or reject the application.

If the application is rejected, they will state specific reasons and you can revise and re-submit the application.

There is no reason to use an attorney unless you don't want to deal with it or run into a situation you just can't understand.
