How do you get an elderly person to quit smoking, without them know you are trying to make them quit?

  1. You don't and you shouldn't

    My grandparents are 87 and 83, and been smoking for over 60 years, with no signs of stopping. If someone was to take their cigarettes away, they would probably die. That would be like taking their medicine away.

    Is that what you want? Taking the chance of killing an elderly person?

    You need to stop watching those films in your school.

    Not everyone dies from smoking.  


  2. You can't.  Elderly people are not children, don't treat them as such. The few things you can change in life are a baby's diaper, a flat tire and yourself!

  3. You could go into their cigarette box and poke holes in the cigarette so they get less smoke, or if they are pretty senile you could cut them in half.

  4. You don't. They have to want to quit or they won't.

  5. You can't.  You can't make anyone quit.  Just as with any other  addiction the addicted person must make the decision and commitment themselves.
