  1. Have the artex sampled for asbestos content this is important. If the sample results return as  non chrysotyl then I would get a plasterer to Unibond bond and set the walls. At the end of the day it is a better job and less messy. If the results are positive then you will have to have the artex removed by specialist company.

  2. If the pattern is not too deep get it skimmed with plaster. It's a lot less bother than trying to scrape it off and a lot quicker.

  3. If it is stuck like the proverbial to the blanket, you can apply a bonding coat and skim with plaster. Quite often it was applied in lieu of the finishing coat for plaster so you can get into a mess if you strip it. If you are determined to strip it, you can use a steam stripper, but avoid creating any dust. You can get a paint remover from these guys http://www.ecosolutions.co.uk  which claims to remove Artex and is eco friendly..

Whatever you do be careful - some forms of Artex contains asbestos.

  4. If its painted, you can get a small roller with needles all over, it's mainly for wallpaper, then use a steamer and scrape off...

  5. Nitro moors artex remover,Paint on leave for a while scrapes off easily.

  6. A wallpaper steamer got mine off

  7. Have a look at this website, it may help.

  8. If its not painted, then hot water should do it. Just soak it and scrape it. If its painted then theres no way, you have to sand it down, or if its flaky sand it and reskim with plaster. Thats what a builder guy told me when I asked him about mine in the bathroom.

  9. You can skim the walls instead.  Artex is the worst to get off walls without destroying it and having to re panel it.

  10. Wall paper steam stripper does it easily, just have plenty of sheets down because it goes solid again when it dries.

  11. rocket launcher

  12. You are getting lots of replies and ways of doing it but they are not REALLY answering your question.

You want to know is there an EASY way of removing it. There are many ways of removing it, there are no EASY ways!

  13. Maybe easier/cheaper to cover it with Polycell's Smoothover?
