i mean some people will think they are about to hit something 3 feet away. how can you get it closer, and can you really be experienced enough to be able to be an inch or 2 away from the other car? what's a good way to do that?

  1. Practice

  2. Use your mirrors or have somone direct you..

  3. The distances are different with every car/truck for one.  You become very good at it after driving the same vehicle for along time, you get used to the vehicles front, and rear end distances.

Other than that you just have to use your mirrors and hopefully be a good judge of distance. It's not as easy as it looks.

  4. You need to practice and get used to using your mirrors and judgeing by that.  But I mainly use my mirrors and use looking closely to judge as to how close I am and if I am going to hit anything or anyone.  So try that and see if it helps you.  But also practice and see what that does.  And always use your mirrors.  That will help you.  Try it and see.
