Everything I read I don't understand.

It makes sense, but I don't get it.

math is c**p. I hate math with a passion, its fun to do equations the basic ones, but when you don't understand its like having a million shots at the same time, and there all going to your brain.

How do you get better at math

When studying on your own ?

Is there anyone who sucked at math, but eventually got better as time went on?

( please tell me there was.)

  1. you better try hard else you gonna end up a retarded freak like answerer one

  2. Try  to get a  study guide for your class and then practice your equations with different numbers and variables until you are comfortable. That way you will actually know what to look for in the problem. Because copying from the guide will give the answer but won't help you on the test.

  3. i can honestly say that i don't suck at math, but there are a lot of people that do.

The only thing that i can offer you is to practice practice practice.

The more you paractice the easier it will get.

For me,i don't always get it at first, but then i come up with an easier way, and the answers always right. sometimes people say im to smart for my own good, but i wasn't just born that way, it takes a lot of practice to anything, math, spelling, guitar, basketball.

Anything you want to do takes time andpractice to get better.

    I hope i helped you

Good luck with your math, and practice, practice, practice.

  4. It's possible but hard. I sucked and still take a loooong time to understand math. You HAVE TO GET SOMEONE TO HELP YOU. Practice one problem like 7 times and make sure you get the same answer. There's no other way. But there is hope.

  5. Cheat off an asian kid....

  6. Why don't you buy practice books at barnes and noble or some other bookstore, or get a tutor. Also, do not be afraid to ask your teacher for help. Just keep practicing--do the same problem over and over again until you understand your mistake.  And review your book-- actually read it (this makes a big difference).

  7. The truth is, I used to love math! I  used to love doing equations and things, I thought they were pretty easy. Until I got moved up to advanced math, and that's when I started saying, 'Hate', next to math. Lol. It's true, it makes no sense AT FIRST, but most have an answer, or may not. I was struggling with math this year, till it was close to final exams so I knew I had to do SOMETHING! quick! What I did was....

1.) Study on your own a few hours a day, squeezing it anytime you can. Review all your notes, look through your textbook, research online, etc. Just so you could actually understand what you are learning.

2.) Ask a friend/family member to help you study. Better yet, find someone you trust that does very well in that course. That way, they can easily teach you what you are not getting.

3.) What helped me the most was get help from your teacher. Luckily, my teacher gave me and people opportunities to see her in the morning (before school), lunch, 8th period, or even after school. Just ask a bunch of questions you don't get, and they will surely help you.

I suggest if you are THAT desperate and none of these are helping you, get a tutor. But what helped me the most was the third one, get help from a teacher.

    Hope that helps! :]

  8. Math is a hard subject for a lot of people.

I struggled in some areas and succeeded in some. You are not alone.

My advice to you is to ask your teacher for some one on one time-or go in early and ask them questions about what you don't understand. Ask them if there is a different way they can explain things and maybe you can take a test to see how you learn.

Some people are visual learners, some learn better by listening and others are kinesthetic learners-like me.

If you find out what kind of learner you are, you can become a better student.

Visual learners can draw pictures and take lots of notes with drawings and diagrams. Auditory listeners can tape lectures when the teacher is introducing new subjects and going over homework and such.

I make flashcards, write on my mirror with erase-able markers...

  9. trust me, there's only one answer:

    PRACTISE

math is hard when you don't practise

math is easy when you do.

    trust me

  10. My brother is a natural born whiz in math. I wasn't good in math all through school (elementary and high school). Well, I did get a good algebra teacher in high school and gained more confidence. I asked to take geometry and trigonometry and my counselor told me that I didn't need to take those classes!

At any rate, I could do BASIC arithmetic when I left high school, but had very weak skills overall. As an adult, I enrolled in community college and took a remedial math course (starting with pre-algebra). I had to work my tush off!!!!!!!!! I spent hours pouring over the examples in the text books and doing exercises. I eventually went on to take, algebra, college and matrix algebra, geometry, two calculus courses and two semesters of physics. I got good grades in all of those classes and never had a tutor. I just spent a TON of time with my text books and going over math examples until I could do the work. You'll get there if you keep at it.

I left community college and went to a four year university where I completed most of the advanced math courses. After graduating with a BS degree in molecular biology, I went on to complete a Ph.D. in biomedical science at a major Ivy League University in Massachusetts. I'm working as a cancer researcher and using math every day. Don't give up. Many things are possible if you have a goal and the determination to make it. Keep trying. You can learn to do math!!!!!!!!!

OH, and don't be shy about asking your instructors for help or getting a tutor if you need help!

  11. you need to keep practicing. do a range of different styled problems and seek help or get a tutor.

  12. When I was a freshman and sophomore in high school I failed one semester of my math class and then got barely passing grades in the rest.  I never understood it and I thought I was just dumb because it looked so easy.  Anyways... My junior year I took Algebra1 with a new teacher.  I absolutely fell in love with her class because she taught it in a way that I understood it without question and was at the top of the class.  It didn't make sense at the time.

Now, I am working on a degree to be an Advanced Mathematics high school teacher.  I learnt that there were different ways of learning.  Everyone learns differently and some teachers don't know how to approach things and teach them in all different ways, they teach the way that they learn because it makes the most sense to them.

So, you have to find out how you learn best.  Do you learn better studying things and reading them yourself?  Do you learn things better when they are written out and shown to you step by step? Verbally explaining?  What works for you.  Just ask your teacher if she/he can teach things from a different approach and tell she/he why.

I promise you this will work.  Everyone is different.  Everyone leans differently.  Everyone teaches differently.

  13. Practice makes perfect! I was always put in high math classes because I was an A-B student but once I got into Calc I thought I was gonna hang myself... haha but now I'm in college and my major requires no math. You'll get through it don't worry.

  14. well if you hate it with a passion, it's going to be hard to get better.

  15. yea i feel like u. like i get it, but i dont know what to do. if ur stuck, that probly means theres a gap in ur knowledge. like, go over old materials to build a solid foundation. and when u want to improve on learning new stuff, get a tutor; it really helped me a lot.
