  1. w/ a razorblade.

  2. turn the stove as high as it will go, it should burn everything off, its going to smell really bad though

  3. I'm embarrassed to say that I've done this a few times.

Don't scrape with a razor blade or metal tool as others have suggested as you will scratch that cook top surface. Burning it off isn't going get it clean.

Try using isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol and see if that will soften and remove most if not all of the melted-on plastic. You can also try nail polish remover or acetone, which gives off more noxious fumes, so open a window. But remove the stuck-on plastic that you can and then prepare to do a little scrubbing.

Get some of the cooktop cleaner, it's sold in my grocery and hardware stores. I've been using the Weiman Glass Cook Top cleaner which is a heavy, creamy liquid with non-scratching abrasive in it. This stuff definitely works. So, if you were able to get rid of any big pieces of melted-on plastic, such that you wouldn't scrub off, do that and THEN use the Wieman's cleaner to restore your cooktop to it's clean and shiny state. It shouldn't require that much elbow grease. I was surprised by how well this cleaner works.

Don't use metal tools or razor blades as they will scratch.

  4. The only way is to heat the stove top again, and scrape it off with a rasor blade.  The top is made of high resistance glass so scrape away.  It won't scratch.

  5. Try setting an ice cube on the plastic to freeze it and then lift it off with a small one sided razor.  Be careful not to angle the razor so that the edges scratch the surface.
