Question:

How do you get cat urine out of a hard wood floor?

we just moved into a house that is wall to wall carpeting with beautiful hardwood underneath. we decided to pull up the carpeting and found a large cat urine stain in the one corner (although it was not on the carpet itself). It smells pretty bad now and we aren't sure how to go about cleaning it for fear of ruining the wood any more than it already is. Any help would be great!

  1. I have never personally used this but ALL of my friends SWEAR by it:

    Might be worth trying out.

  2. i restore and install hardwood flooring. i understand that this is impossible to completely remove from the wood once it has been absorbed. the urine also causes a discoloration when you refinish, the best solution is to keep it from happening or just cover it up

  3. Check at your local Target and WalMart. Ours have products for these in the housekeeping areas or pet areas, depends upon which store you go to.

Also for future help, get some Abzorb Mats (a roll!) We use these in pet areas and they work great!

    Cheap and sturdy stuff!!

  4. Get an enzyme pet urine product. I use Odorcide and it works well. Enzyme cleaners cling to and "eat" organic matter and odors.

  5. 50% vinegar and 50% water in a spray bottle.Spray on and allow to dry.

This works great.I have 4 felines myself.
