Like, is it transmitted through general contact or what? I'm just wondering because a girl in my school has it & I don't want to catch it.

  1. You can't catch it - it's genetic, meaning you would get it from your parents.

  2. No. And.. you could have searched wikipedia... but whatever.

I have Crohn's disease; it's GENETIC. Meaning, no, you can't catch it. Unless it's already in your bloodline... Generally, a whole family can carry the gene in a remissive state, but severe stress can trigger it.

  3. It is not infectious.

  4. No it's not transmitted through touch, body fluid or anything like that.

The precise cause of Crohn's disease is not known. The disease occurs when the immune system attacks the gastrointestinal tract; for this reason, Crohn's disease is considered an autoimmune disease. Like many other autoimmune diseases, Crohn's disease is believed to be genetically linked. This autoimmune activity produces inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract. For this reason, Crohn's disease is classified as an inflammatory bowel disease.
