  1. Hi, Kim,

Getting a death certificate is, like you say, an important thing at times.  I had to get a few when my dad died, so I have an inkling of what you have and are going through.  A friend of mine says, sometimes, about such things, "I was happy once, and this is definitely not it."

On to the subject at hand.  The Bureau of Vital Statistics is the general term of who does the death certificates.  This is usually found in the county system somewhere.  Here in Los Angeles, California, for example, I searched for "Los Angeles County Death Certificate" and the first result was:

    http://www.lacounty.info/faq.htm

which told me what to do and where to do it.

I think you might have similar results if you plug in your county and state into the search string.

If you still have problems, re-post with your state and county (or parish or township or whatever) and I'm sure that either I or someone will be able to be more specific.

    Rick/

  2. EXPLODE!

  3. You can usually get copies of them online. If you type "Death Certificates" into a search engine you can usually pull up a database site.  Other than that you can look at Genealogy websites as well. A good site (if you're in Canada) is http://www.ancestry.ca .

I know there are means of getting them through non-internet sources, but it's hard to tell you exactly without more information. I would say the internet is your best bet!

    Hope that helps! ^_^

  4. Someone has to die

  5. The funeral director generally gives you them after the funeral, if you need more contact the county in which the death occurred and they will supply you with as many as you need.  There may be a small fee.

  6. Go to your local records department and ask for them. There may be a small fee and you will be required to present Identification, but that's it. Good Luck.

  7. Go to the records office in your city. You can get birth and death certificates there. Google the name of your city plus "death certificates".

  8. This site will help you out if you are in the US. Each state has different fees and rules
