How do you get dried gum off of a wood surface?

I have gum fused to my jewelry box... It's a long story. But anyway, I'd like to get it off without ruining the wood.

  1. try useing a small amount of  veggitable oil and kinda kneed it in

    rub it in little circles it should come off in little balls you may need to soften it up with a little watter


  2. Put it in the freezer until the gum is hard. Then peel of. It should come off pretty easy without hurting the wood.
