Question:

How do you get dry-erase marker stains off the keys of a Key board?

A few months ago, probably about 3, I was trying to play a song on my Mom's Yamaha keyboard and I used a green Expo marker to mark on the key I needed to play. I didn't erase the marker off immediately, but I was trying to get it off today and I can't get it off. I tried Germ-X, an OXY cleansing pad, Arm and Hammer: Scrub Free with Oxy, and rubbing alcohol. I used a dry-erase marker because I thought it would come off. The keys of the keyboard were smooth so I figured I could just wipe it off when I was done, but now I can't get it off and I have to move the keyboard out of my room by next Wednesday. Can someone please help me??

  1. Those Mr. Clean Magic Erasers work fairly well. Sometimes Lysol will take that stuff off too.

  2. I have never used a dry erase marker on a keyboard but I have left it on the dry erase board for a long time and  couldn't get it off, I found that windex usually does the trick nicely. I wouldn't spray it  directly on the keys, just wet the cloth down well ( no dripping ) and rub gently. It may take a couple of times.

( by the way, I do have a keyboard and used pencil instead of marker and it worked on that as well., with no harm to the keys.  )

I hope this helps and good luck

  3. try going over it with wipie markers and eraseing it a second later

in 8th my teacher wrote in sharpie on a dry erase borad and got it off by putting wipe board marker on top of the sharpie and whiped it off quick and it came off

like the saying you must fight fire with fire

you must fight wipie with wipie

  4. have you tried the Mr. Clean Magic  Eraser? It's fantastic and it does work! I haven't tried it on keyboard keys, but it is fantastic on walls, and anything my son decides to 'decorate' with markers (except fabrics). I would try that! Good Luck! :)

and try to remember next time you use and Expo...even on a dry erase board, if it is not wiped off soon after writing on it  will stain also.... ;)
