  1. Try asking your vet to take it off for you. Trying to remove it yourself might result in the bird becoming bald. D:

  2. Sorry to hear about your ringneck.

I highly recommend having a bird vet on hand that you can call when you have one of these rare happenings.  It is always best to handle the problem ASAP.  The faster a problem can be handled the less amount of stress is put on a bird.  Birds don't do well under stress. If you have a good vet, they would answer this question for you with out a charge.  What condition is your ringneck in NOW?  Is it still eating, and "pooping" normal ?  Was your bird hanging in the fly paper or was it able to get lose from the strip.  Was your bird injured in it getting itself lose or while you were trying to get it lose?  Is  your bird stressed & if so to what degree?  If your bird has any of the problems above, you NEED to get the ringneck to the vet ASAP.  If the only problem the little one has is a sticky coat then a bath is what is needed.  Are you able to handle your ringneck?  Have you ever given your bird a bath? Get some DAWN dish washing soap to bathe your bird with.  It MUST be DAWN.  Dawn dish washing soap is what the rescues use when they get birds that are covered with oil due to oil spills.  I would try to bathe the ringneck with as little stress as possible.  Be sure to rinse well.  Having someone to help you would be very helpful too.  It is important that you and your friend stay calm while giving the bird it's bath.  If you stress, your bird will pick up on the stress and it will add it to what it already has.  Not good.  PLEASE remove any and all fly paper in areas that your bird or birds could make contact too, or history WILL repeat itself.  If you MUST use this fly paper stuff, please take and hang it in a small old cage.  Place this old cage where you want to catch the bugs.  The bugs will be able to get through the bars but your birds will not.  Did you know that bugs love the color yellow?  You might try something yellow near the fly trap cage to help draw the bugs to the spot you want.

Hope all works out for the both of you.

  3. Call the vet, you don't want your bird trying to clean it off of himself.
