  1. When food does not cook properly, it will still have bacteria inside the meat. So when you eat them, the bacteria will be inside your stomach and that's when you can get food poisoning. You might feel stomach upset, or you might feel like vomit because the stomach it refusing it.

  2. Food poisoning is the result of eating organisms or toxins in contaminated food. Most cases of food poisoning are from common bacteria like Staphylococcus or E. coli . Food poisoning can affect one person or it can occur as an outbreak in a group of people who all ate the same contaminated food. Even though food poisoning is relatively rare in the United States, it affects between 60 and 80 million people worldwide each year and results in approximately 6 to 8 million deaths. Food poisoning tends to occur at picnics, school cafeterias, and large social functions. These are situations where food may be left unrefrigerated too long or food preparation techniques are not clean. Food poisoning often occurs from undercooked meats or dairy products (like mayonnaise mixed in coleslaw or potato salad) that have sat out too long. Infants and elderly people have the greatest risk for food poisoning. You are also at higher risk if you have a serious medical condition, like kidney disease or diabetes, a weakened immune system, or you travel outside of the U.S. to areas where there is more exposure to organisms that cause food poisoning . Pregnant and breastfeeding women have to be especially careful. Your healthcare provider will examine you for signs and symptoms of food poisoning , such as stomach problems and dehydration. Your provider will also ask about foods you have eaten recently. Tests of your vomit, blood , stool, and any leftover food may identify the cause. Even if you have food poisoning, however, these tests may not be able to verify it.

In rare but possibly serious cases, your doctor may order one or more of the following procedures:

Sigmoidoscopy (putting a thin, tube-like tool into the a**s) to look for the source of bleeding or infection if these symptoms do not go away and the cause has not been found.

Electromyography (a test to measure electric impulses in the muscles) to check for botulism.

Lumbar puncture (a test of fluid from the spine) if you have signs of a nervous system disorder. You will usually recover from the most common types of food poisoning within a couple of days. The goal is to make you feel better and avoid dehydration . Drink any fluid (except milk or caffeinated beverages) to replace fluids lost by diarrhea and vomiting. Children should be given an electrolyte sold in drugstores. Don't eat solid foods until the diarrhea has passed, and avoid dairy, which can worsen diarrhea . If you have diarrhea and are unable to drink fluids (for example, due to nausea or vomiting), you may need medical attention and intravenous fluids. This is especially true for young children. If you take diuretics, you need to manage diarrhea carefully. Talk to your doctor -- you may need to stop taking the diuretic while you have the diarrhea . Medications should NEVER be stopped or changed without discussing with your doctor and getting specific instructions. For the most common causes of food poisoning, your doctor would NOT prescribe antibiotics. Antibiotics can actually prolong diarrhea and keep the organism in your body longer. If you have eaten toxins from mushrooms or shellfish, you will need to be seen right away. The emergency room doctor will take steps to empty out your stomach and remove the toxin.

  3. YOU get it from either uncooked foods or contaminated food ie anti-freeze? or the like?

  4. even considered that it might have been what was barbequed... like the chicken, or meat. if it was left out for too long without being refrigerated. (meat is a very unusual thing to play with)..it even happens if it's not cooked completely.

  5. eating grub that aint cooked right?

  6. you get food poisoning from food that has gone bad . or through cros contamination

basicly it is bacteria that causes food poisonig and there are quite a few different ones too.  some of them are realy nasty and these are called pathegens such as e coli  / botulinum these are so nasty they can and do kill..

then you get the likes of campilor bactor for many years peaple were told that you had eaten something that was infected with samonell different bacteria but the same outcome . then we have staffilicoci theres a few different stains of this one too and it is found on everyone . yes thats right everyone . and thats one of the reasons for washing your hands . or how about a bit of basilious cerus or the take away bug that is poorly reheated rice that is contaminated with this bacteria nothing like a dose of the trots about half an hour after eating it.

so no its not about eating undercooked food but food that has been in cotact with  and contaminated by these nasty bacteria,s  . so the rule of thumb is do not eat raw or rare burgers unles you know they are fresh and have never been in cotact with nasty bacteria so thats  a no to raw and under cooked burgers never use the same chopping board for raw and cooked foodstufs without first cleaning them even just after a minit never eat bad food if the restarouant looks a bit dirty walk out do not be carried out  as for the barby thats usualy salmonel campilor bactor or worse still e coli 0157 a killer of a bacteri

  7. you asked about a barbecue, if you did get food poisoning

the meat may not have been stored properly

  8. Uncooked food basically. If your cooking meat and the meat isn't cooked throughly all the way through, it will make you ill and in a worse case scenario...... kill you.

  9. in the barbeque people want to hurry up cooking the meat so they don't cook inside also when people leave open food open.

  10. Actually our bodies are quite well equipped to eat raw meat without cooking.

Oysters are eaten raw - so is japanese sushi, and english salmon.

Steak tata is ground beef with little or no cooking at all, and a lot of people prefer their steaks rare and bloody.

The problems start when we try and preserve the meat for eating later.

Salmonella lysteria and a host of other micro organisms that are present on the skin of most animals, are introduced into the meat (muscle) when it is prepared. From then on it multiplies and can become toxic to us within only a few hours.

Refrigeration and freezing slows the bacteria breeding rate - but doesn't stop it completely.

Pickling, canning , drying and salt/curing are other traditional methods also used to preserve meat, and prevent bacterial growth. - You may notice salami or hams preserved in salt and left to hang for a year or more.

If meat is blended with other vegetables etc the breeding rate is even faster - so pies have a shorter shelf life.

BTW, the "Use By" date is governed by the bacteria found in similar products at that length of time from manufacture. They calculate a safe level, above which would become unsafe for eating.

As barbecue food is often mixed/ marinaded, and skewered - unless it is cooked properly, these bacteria will not be killed, and therefore will be toxic to you.

An interesting trial concluded that drinking white wine with suspect food - also killed harmful bacteria in the gut - so , if you're going to a barbecue - make sure yours is well done, prefer beef to chicken, and drink white wine!

    Cheers.

  11. from food that isnt cooked properly

  12. undercooked chicken or meat. Rice or raw meat left out uncovered and unchilled.

  13. Not cooking the meat proper will do it.

  14. by there being slamonella bacteria being in food - this is in every meat anyway - the heat usually kills off the bacteria, but in a BBQ sometimes it cooks the outside too quickly and so the inside hasn't had time to cook properly, and so still contains traces of salmonella bacteria. you only need a bit of this bacteria to get food poisoning
