I am going on the European Horizon tour soon and the last stop if you wish to stay in France is the Charlles de Gaulle airport. It drops us off there at around 10 a.m. I have to catch a 3 p.m. train from Paris Est rain station. My question is what is the easiest (and cheapest) way to get from that airport to the train station. Does the metro (subway/tube) go directly from the airport to the station? From maps I have seen it seems to yet from things I have read I am seeing things about the RER (above ground trains which you don't need to purchase advance tickets for) which take you to a certain area and then you can take the metro. Here's a site I found that was helpful but I am still a little confused. http://www.parisnet.com/info_airplane.html

The RER/metro entry is near the bottom. Could anyone help me out with an exact route? From what I understood originally the subway/tube runs right from the airport like it does at Heathrow.

  1. The easiest route is to take the RER B line from the airport to Gare du Nord. Then walk to the orange line (line 5) metro tracks and take the metro in the direction Place d "Italie or take line 4 in the direction of Port d'Orleans. Gare de l'Est is the first stop in either case. It's 34 minutes from the airport to Gare du Nord and another 1 minute to Gare d'la Est. You can also walk from Gare du Nord to Gare d'la Est in a little less than 10 minutes.
