How do you get from Toronto to Calgary by train?

You can't get there from here!  lol.

You can get to Edmonton for $575 on Via Rail.  The link gives you varying rates based on travel date, passenger age, and berth/fare type. If you go, I'd suggest you then catch a bus to Calgary from Edmonton.  If you insist on Train, you probably can do it in a round about way, but it will probably entail using multiple Train companies, and lots of extra miles.

Calgary is not serviced by VIA Rail. You would have to take the "Canadian" train to Edmonton and then take a bus to Calgary.

Well, Via Rail Canada is a good system of travel for your service and delight too. Unfortunately there is not a via rail union station in Calgary so you can not use transportation by a via rail train directly to Calgary. I suggest if you need to travel by train, make a stop in Edmonton which has a via rail union station, then drive using some what transportation like the bus to Calgary. I live in Calgary my self so I tried that and it worked. It's only a three hour drive by bus to Calgary from Edmonton. It won't be to big of a drag. I think that's the best way to transport to Calgary from Toronto by train. If prices and\or costs are not reasonable for via rail or if it does take to long in the travel then I would suggest going by air. Air travel is always reasonably priced for transportation as well. Well that's easy... Get on a train in Toronto and get off in Calgary. Take along a book to read as it will take a couple of days to get there and if you can't afford food on the train take your own sandwiches. you might want to take along a small pillow too, for comfort. I did the train ride from Toronto to Calgary 40 years ago and really enjoyed it. I imagine th trains are a bit more modern these days, so have fun and enjoy it.
