How do you get good FM radio reception in an apartment?

Well I live in an apartment complex, and most stations on FM are okay, but the one station I like, I can't get! I have a iHome that comes with the long black wire.

HELP-I need MUSIC!

  1. try putting it near a window some time that works here ,,

    if not get a extra antenna


  2. You can get TV/FM splitters so you can tap into your existing TV antenna.

  3. If the other stations come in OK, I suspect your favorite station has a lower transmitting power or may be coming from a different city or just has what we call a null in your area. Radio signal coverage maps are not perfect circles. There may be something between you and the station tower that makes your apartment building a low-strength area.

    Go to a Radio Shack and explain the problem. I suspect they will sell you an inexpensive device you can attach to the end of the long black wire. They might also have an FM antenna in Wal*Mart or other electronics stores, but they'll have it for sure at RS and the salespeople are more knowledgeable - especially if the problem is common in your area.

    In the mean time you can try attaching more regular wire to what's coming out of the radio, and hang it out the window. Just shut the window right over it. It can't hurt and it might help ;<)

  4. You can install a FM outdoor antennae to get the signal.
