How do you get great highlights at home?

I'm going back to school and i want a new hair style so can anyone help me cause i don't wan to go back on the first day looking weird.

I only do it with a kit from the store that comes with a comb. I absolutely hate the cap method, it takes forever, it's hard to do and I think the results look crappy. My favorite is the herbal essences, it has a funky little comb thing you use but it works great and really makes it easy to apply. Just make sure that you have a good sized hand mirror so you can turn around with the bathroom mirror to your back and use the hand mirror to look at the back in the reflection of the other mirror :P Also unlike regular dying, you should apply the highlighting cream onto clean hair. You want to go easy on the highlights so you don't end up with huge chunks, but don't make them sparse either. The box will come with illustrations in the directions.

it comes with the cap to pull hair out so you can highlight it

Just foil your own hair. Go to a store where they sell beauty products
