  1. SOMEWHERE in yur past, there was a green-eyed

  2. green eyes is almost always the result from a blue eyed parent and a brown eyed parent. its more likely that your mother has hazel eyes though. hazel and blue are both recessive so there for you would have green eyes. its too hard to explain, but hes your dad so calm down ha.

  3. Green eyes are genetic....from blue and brown

Blue eyes are only available from parents who both have the blue eye gene..not necesarily blue eyes

  4. yes, you were adopted

  5. LOLZ your teach is a dousche bag...

having green eyes is a ressecive trait (i'm most positive)...

therfore if someone in your mother's family and father's family carried these traits and passed them on to your parents... your parents may carry them, but they are physically exemplified...so they are your parents...maybe...no just kidding they are :D

  6. Well, I'd be willing to bet that your mother's eyes are hazel.  Brown and green eyes are co-dominant traits.  usually, if both alleles are present (brown and green), then hazel will be expressed.  However, sometimes the brown masks the green.  Your father can ONLY pass on the blue (recessive) allele.  Therefore, whatever your mother passes (brown or green) will ALWAYS mask the blue.

BTW, I am editing my post to respond to several of the above posts...do not listen to them.  They are obviously creating their own fictional human genetics theory.

  7. Your grandparents or ancestors even further back could have green eyes.

I don't think it completely matters about how your parents have green eyes, it's if they carry the green-eye-color gene.

Y'know the dominant characteristic and the recessive characteristic thing?

Even if the recessive gene isn't outwardly shown, it could still be carried on, so that's what my guess about the green eye color question is.

  8. There was someone in your lineage with them - maybe grandparent

  9. Cristina,

    Your teacher is correct.

My mom has green eyes, her dad had green eyes, I have them, my two daughters have them.

    "Ranger"

  10. take blue n brown color ..mix it n juz see vich color yu get frm tat.. check ur eye color again..:;)

  11. First of all, your teachers comment was so far out of line that the teacher should be reprimanded and issue you a public apology in front of every member of your biology class.  I wonder how your father will feel should you tell him of your teachers comment.

Now in regard to eye color.  Eye color is determined in the same manner of every other physical part of your body-by hundreds of years of ancestral development.  My father had blue eyes, he was Black Irish.  My mother had brown eyes, she was Irish also.  I have hazel eyes, a mixture of green and Brown.  I wonder, what color are your eyes when you wear brown?  If they are more brown than green, then you have hazel eyes.

By the way, your Biology teacher should know that your parents eye color has only a fraction of influence on your eye color.
