Question:

How do you get hard water spots off your car body and windows?

I parked next to a sprinkler system overnight in a public area in my neighborhood. The sprinklers must have kicked on over night and when I got in the next morning there was a coating of hard water deposits on the windows and the paint on one side and the windshield.

Question is, how do I get it off without damaging the glass or the paint? I tried to just wash it with some standard car wash soap--but it's still there!

HELP!!!

  1. I just use a slightly damp sponge to buff the marks off when this happens, otherwise a bit of wax should get rid of them...assuming its not some kind of fertiliser or soemthing they've sprayed your car with!

  2. they are almost impossible to get off.  my neighbor that parks outside has the same problem and it sucks.  the best thing you can do while they aren't that bad is go to autozone and get the magic clay bar, or the mother's clay bar kit.  they are like $15 and work like magic, literally.  i tell everyone about them because they take all the impurities out of your paint and make the car feel like wet glass without even applying wax.  that's what people do to make the classic cars and exotics look so shiny and perfect at car shows and auctions, etc.  you just wash the car, while it's wet spray on the lubricant or just do it when the car is soapy, rub the clay all over the car.  you'll feel the clay stick to the car (that's it taking out the c**p off the paint) then once it starts to glide across the paint, all the impurities are gone and you can do another little section.  the first time takes forever, but your car will look insane.  my 7 year old jetta still looks like new.  good luck!
