How do you get information out about a fundraiser out to the public?

Question

I know this is the same question I had just ask,, but I am not to sure where to post it on answers so forgive me,,

There is a fundrasier dinner for a heart transplant patient in Michigan, and I want to help by spreading the news to the public,,is there any outlet to post or have the flyer adverstise ??

we have flyers posted at local stores and family's member workplaces and a couple church bullteins ...already

Go to playgrounds and houses and give people the flyers.

Ask the local grocery store if you can stand in front and hand them out for an hour or two. Ask a local newspaper if they will insert them into their paper this week. Post on Craigslist under community events. Call the Pennysaver and post under the appropriate heading. Good luck and God bless for your efforts. My best friend is on the heart transplant list in CA. Talk to your local newspaper and have them do a story about the fund raiser. Go to your local tv station find the reporter who does human interest stories and go to him or her and do an interview.  Local radio stations often do interviews so hit em all and do an interview with the drive time djs or talk show hosts.  Post in your newspaper date book, usually there's no charge for those type of things.

i live in michigan so i can let you know that contacting local television and radio stations is a good idea.  alternative magazines and newpapers like real detroit, metro detroit, etc are good. contact the observer and eccentric, michigan chronicle, tribune papers and detroit news and free press for info on posting community events. if you subscribe to a paper that would be a good thing as you can look at it to see where the community events (fundraisers and charitable events) are posted and how to submit them
