Always test the cleaning solutions on an inconspicuous part of the carpet before using on a large area.

Brush from the outer edges of the stain inward to prevent the stain from spreading.

Use a white cloth rather than a colored one to prevent any dyes from coming off on the carpet.

  2. The best thing ive found are those spot treatments for carpet. Get a cheap instant stain remover and a little scrub brush and it works great.

  3. Try blotting with rubbing alcohol. Put some on a towel and blot. Whatever you do don't rub and it will spread the ink out farther.

  4. Try aerosol hair spray.  Don't rub.  Spray some on and blot, blot, blot.  If it seems to be working, spray some more and repeat until the stain is gone.  This is what I use on clothes and it works great.
