Running a hedge fund requires a lot of experience.  Usually the people who run hedge funds are the people who have done really well in the stock market, and other using other peoples money to make even more in the stock market

If you mean a person who manages hedge funds, then the previous answer is right.  Hedge fund managers has a lot of experience in addition to academic degree.  Usually a finance or economic major with MBA and/or CFA and many years of financial industry experience.

There are other aspects for running a hedge fund, like taxes, accountant, administrator, sales etc.  The best way for you to find out is to search for hedge fund jobs at job sites (like Monster.com) and read their job description.
