  1. There is no marine special forces. The closest thing is force recon.

  2. hardcore marines generally aspire to force recon.

  3. First off be willing to train hard and be an excellent swimmer. Try the recon option. The Marines have MARSOC (Marine Special Operations Command) you can aspire to doing that by requesting info from your command. Likely you will have to have proven yourself worthy in the infantry or Recon first. MOS's you'd want would be 0311 (RIFLEMAN) or 0313 (RECON) or 8541 (Sniper)

  4. David H you are scum!

Marine Corps Special Ops are MARSOC

Force Recon was transitioned into MARSOC

  5. The USMC does not have any special forces. Only the Army has a unit called Special Forces. That is their actual name..All other units can be considered elite units..

In the USMC you apply for MARSOC once in the marines. The MOS of 0300 will be what you need but most MOS's serve in this unit as a support role.

You may also choose the RECON option before enlisting or you can try for them once in the Mairnes.
