How do you get kittens from litter tray to outside?

My kitten is about 4 months old now, he has been really good using the litter tray with no accidents. I have recently moved the litter tray to our outhouse, and again he has been fine. Yesterday I moved it outside completely and today he wee'd on one of the beds. I presume this transition was too soon, but not sure how to get him from inside to out. Any ideas

  1. Just keep at it. He's probably still more comfortable in the house, once he starts getting used to being outside he'll do his toilet there as well.

  2. put some of his litter from his tray on an area where you would like him to go to the toilet. when he is going to use the litter tray you could carry him quicky to this spot with the litter already on it and get him to go there..... you could even add some of his p**p there so he knows that it is definitely a toilet...slowly reduce the amount of litter you put here until he goes there naturally.

    good luck.

  3. Is there a lid on the litterbox? Try putting a lid on it for a little while and then remove it after a week or so.

Also, when the kitten goes inside, don't scold him, just pick him up and put him straight into the litterbox.

If you're going to put the box outside, make sure it is in a sheltered area - believe it or not cats need privacy when they're doing their thing.

  4. Why would you want to have your kitten outside? There are lots of dangers to him out there.
