How do you get mildew stains out of a suede sofa cover?

  1. Does the cover come off? If it does, take it off, treat it with a mixture of lemon juice and salt. Scrub gently with a toothbrush. Rinse the area. If you can, put it through the washing machine on gentle with cold water. If you have a shampoo/ steam machine, use that with upholstery cleaner.  


  2. Remove the cover and wash as per instructions for the fabric. Rinse in lemon juice [added to the rinse water]. Final drying of this fabric must be out in the open air and sunshine [this is what will sanitise and deodorise] the cover. Make sure that the cushion [under the cover] is not wet or damp, as this is possibly where the mildew started. If the cushion is the culprit, make sure you thoroughly dry it before putting back the cover. If the cushion is wet, determine why and eliminate this source to prevent a repeat of this event. Keep the room well ventilated and aired.This should solve any future problem.
