How do you get misdemeanors expunged?

1 was juvenile, then i had 2 that were dismissed in court, i did a criminal record search. the dismissed charges from last year (18 , adult record) were still there but nothin about when i was 17

they were all pot charges....

i am going to get my own shot gun me and my dad hunt he says its time i get my own gun. I need to get them expunged before I can buy one. already was denied last year for the charge that didn't even show up on my record when i searched it yesterday

  1. I think you have to wait 5 or 7 years, then an attorney has to do it.

    At least that is what it is in Michigan. My husband is waiting to get his done. Good luck.


  2. If your misdemeanors occurred before you were 18 then they are sealed and cannot be held against you.

    You can buy any gun you want as long as you have no felony record and are not a fugitive.

    What State do you live in?

    Misdemeanors cannot keep you from buying a firearm.

  3. Each state has its own standards and procedures.  Contact a local lawyer.  BTW, expungment does not restore the right to bear arms.
