Question:

How do you get motivated to exercise? Diet help! (eating healthy)?

I'm having a really hard time eating healthy and making myself exercise. I do it for like a day and then I stop.. What motivates you to exercise and eat right? Any tips I should know about losing weight? I'm 5'9 and I weight 198.. My goal is to be at least 140lbs..

  1. Think about the reasons you want to get healthier.

    Do you not like how you look in a bathing suit?  Place a picture of yourself somewhere where you will see it everyday.

    Do you want to live longer for your kids and set a positive example for them?  Keep pictures of your kids strategically placed in the house (i.e., kitchen) to remind you why you want to get healthy.

    Personally, I keep fitness magazines around the house...I look at these while having a healthy snack and get motivated to go exercise.

    Get one of those fitness mags and follow some of the routines in there and some of the diet tips.

    Picture yourself as a hot toned woman. Have faith it is hard and easy. The real problem is can you keep on going.

  3. usually once you start exercising you want to eat healthier. dont do too much at once. you need to take it in steps to not overwhlem yourself with too much change. start by finding a bmr calculator online to see how many calories you really need a day to maintain. then start counting what you are eating now. see how much you are over eating. then slow it down to your maintanence level. to lose 1 pound a week you will later reduce 500 more calories. to lose 2 lbs a week will be 1000. but never go under 1200, you do not want to go into starvation mode.

    find ways to cut calories out of you fav foods. i like to eat a lot! so i found some great substitutes to make this possible and enjoy what i eat.

    add working out 3 times a week for 20 minutes. and use measuring tape to update your changes in weight. exersize builds muscle and muscle weighs more on the scale but you lose inches.

    drink ice water to burn 300 more calories a week.

    once you get use to the mild changes you will probably want to step it up! take pictures of yourself once a week in the same outfit that shows your tone and body. you will have fun seeing how far you have come and noticing muslce you never seen before show itself :)

  4. eat 5 small meals a day and dont force yourself to do exercises that you cant tolerate.you gotta make this your lifestyle so that your excess weight goes off for good. push yourself to the max,no pain no gain!

  5. well just think of these things, if you'll lose weight, you can wear any clothes you wanted & you'll gain your self confidence back.

    well in my case, i'm motivated because, i wanted to wear the clothes that i wanted. i don't want to stuck my life wearing, pants and Big t-shirts only!!!
